Event Guidelines

What’s On Launceston & Northern Tasmania is the central place to find all public events happening in Launceston & Northern Tasmania, these may be ticketed or free to attend.

It is free to list your event.

Commercial businesses are welcome to submit events for promotion; however please note that listings which advertise products, weekly specials, sales or regular services will not be accepted.

Guidelines

For events to be listed on What’s On Launceston & Northern Tasmania the following guidelines apply:

  • The event must be open to the general public and have broad appeal to residents and visitors.
  • The event must be staged within the boundaries of the Regional Tourism Organisation of Northern Tasmania see map below, highlighted regions for north and north east Tasmania. This information can also be found on the Visit Northern Tasmania website, visitnortherntasmania.com.au or; contact our team, admin@visitnorthtas.org.au

  • The event organiser warrants that they have all appropriate approvals prior to listing their event (e.g. approvals and permits to use the venue, promotional images etc.).
  • The event organiser is responsible for ensuring that the event is staged safely and in accordance with all relevant public health directions.
  • The event organiser must not include images that may be offensive, inappropriate or in violation of copyright laws.
  • The event organiser is responsible for managing their event listing and ensuring the accuracy of the information presented. Updates can be submitted using the online form or will be carried through automatically when the listing is on other public websites (updates on other platforms may take 2-4 business days to appear on What’s On Launceston & Northern Tasmania).

Events will not be considered, if it is deemed:

  • To have the potential to adversely affect Visit Northern Tasmania’s public image or reputation; or adversely affect the public image of the region of Northern Tasmania.
  • To conflict with Visit Northern Tasmania’s values, policies or statutory responsibilities; or conflict with the values, policies or statutory responsibilities of funding Councils and/or partners of Visit Northern Tasmania.
  • To be political in nature, offensive, abusive or racist;
  • To be a sales promotion or special offer;
  • To be incomplete by lack of specific time, date or organiser contact details.

All listings must contain the following information:

  • Event name
  • Event title
  • Date of the event (or date range if multi-date event)
  • Time of the event eg: start-finish time
  • Event location
  • Description including ticket information (if applicable)
  • Contact details; and
  • A suitable image – a hero image that you have the rights to use that is a true reflection of the event. The image must be free of logos and text.
  • We encourage you to consider accessibility and ask that you confirm yes or no as to whether your event is accessible and if yes, provide further information about the accessibility options available.

Accessibility

It is recommended to include information about accessibility of your event, eg: wheelchair access, suitable for people with sensory needs, prams/children, guide dogs, companion card, or simply how to obtain more information about event accessibility.

By highlighting accessibility of your event and by making your event accessible, you can reach a broader audience and enrich the lives of those who are living with disability.

Events are reviewed, removed or added in accordance with these guidelines and any decision by the What’s On Launceston & Northern Tasmania team is final.
